Skin resurfacing treatments are quite possibly the oldest cosmetic procedure out there.

One hundred years ago, phenol peels were all the rage – that’s deep peeling, three weeks in bandages, and a white face for the rest of your life.

Fifty years ago, TCA acid peels appeared.

In the 1990s, laser resurfacing, and from 2000 onwards it was pretty much a mix of everything; Fraxel, IPL, more lasers.

And common to all of these procedures was the really severe penetration and skin injury that resulted in a lengthy downtime, necessary recovery, and occasionally some very serious side effects.
